This is Connor Caboodle’s birthday, and it’s full of jewelry and makeup.
Can someone explain to us what Caboodles have? Well at least Caboodles carry it on my shoulders, ha ha ha!
I know it’s technically just a cute plastic makeup box and various doors, but for some reason I feel a strong emotional hold whenever one is around. Maybe it’s because Caboodle was such a big part of my formative years.
Ah, makeup. I set some up today because I had a video meeting to present a big marketing kit (yes, I wrote it!), and nothing seems to calm my nerves like a little face paint.
I wear the dark, brown, bronze, and peach shades of the Sunkissed Getaway Eye and Face Palette from Wander Beauty. Contains a range of eye shadows and cheek powders for a refreshing bronze look. If you are the type who likes shades that don’t make you work too hard, you might like this.
Please note the chocolate brown liner on my waterlines, the Cave gel liner from Hourglass. Beautiful, yes? I love the richness of the hue, and how it’s not too red. It stays on all day too. I think I’ve found a new staple!
I have a number of deadlines on Friday, so I’ll have to get back to it. Before I head out, these are the cupcakes I made for Connor’s cat-themed birthday party at the Marin Humane Society.
The girls kept asking if the cats were edible, lol! (They were just like that, by the way.)
I debated long and hard between her frosting the night before or the morning of the party, which, by the way, started at 10:30. Side note, if you have to plan a two hour party for a kid, and they give you a choice between morning or afternoon, morning is the way to go IMHO. I prefer taking Connor to morning parties because that way we still have the rest of the day to do other things and if she’s still hungry after the party we can go straight to lunch.
Where were you? Oh, frosting. I wasn’t sure when to frost it because the buttercream was a buttercream that I made from scratch, and it contains heavy whipping cream and butter, so I wasn’t sure if I could leave it overnight.
I asked my friend Alison from my bakery days what to do, and she suggested freezing them the night before, putting them in the freezer, and then taking them out in the morning first thing so they could come to room temperature before serving, which is what I ended up doing.
Just some cupcakes FYI for you from a professional baker!
Happy Wednesday to you, and I hope the rest of the week treats you kindly.
Friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
